Hi Everyone,
I thought I posted a new thread a long time ago regarding this stamp, but I searched and cannot find it, maybe I posted it in a Yahoo group instead...

Anyway, I guess this is a Cinderella stamp or something local some where. I can't figure out the image, guy, girl, holding something?

Thank you,
SueStamps

Maybe this will turn up some ideas:

Would it be possible to get an even closer look at the vingette? Maybe the details of the statue hold some clues and my eyes are not very good (myopia).

Thank you for the link, I am looking at it now. Here are some close up photos. Maybe holding a young child?

I suspect that this is a sacred relic or icon from a mission in Central America of the Southwest U.S. You might be able to track it down by searching for missions established in 1658.

The image has some similarity with Fatima of Portugal (see in Wikipedia) but I found no connection whatsoever with the year 1628.

If I could venture an educated guess from about half-an-hour of Googling, I believe this is most likely a Canadian charity label issued by the Shrine of Saint Anne de Beaupre (Quebec) to commemorate the 300th anniversary of her first miracle.

From "Field Guide to the Cinderella Stamps of Canada" (used with permission):
"Sainte Anne de Beaupré is a town located 35 km north-east of Quebec City. It was the site of a shrine erected in 1620 by shipwrecked sailors. In 1658 a chapel was built, which was replaced by a church in 1876, and finally by a magnificent basilica after a fire in 1922. The basilica is a major site of pilgrimage, and displays a wall of canes as a testament to those who have been cured there."

Here are some other seals:

Yup, I see it now. On the stamp, the hair of the child is too long for a boy.

For those not steeped in the Catholic tradition, Saint Anne is the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary (who in turn was the mother of Jesus). The statue is of St. Anne holding Mary as a child.
