Women's basketball, designed by Hungarian artist Sándor Légrády (1906-1987), printed by photogravure, and issued by Hungary on December 2, 1950 as one of ten stamps in a sports set, Scott No. 923.

FIBA EuroBasket 1939



The third FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship was hosted by Lithuania in Kaunas Sports Hall.
The Lithuania became the European champion, Litva won silver medal and Poland won bronze medal.

Here is an image of an engraved semi-postal (charity) stamp depicting men's basketball, designed by Masaru Kimura, and issued by Japan on October 10, 1962 to raise funds for the 1964 Olympic Games, Tokyo, Scott No. B19.

The champion became team of Spain.

Basketball, designed and engraved by Claude Durrens, and issued for use in New Caledonia on June 24, 1971 as one of a set of stamps publicizing the Fourth South Pacific Games, held in Papeete, Tahiti, August 25 - September 5, Scott No. 392. Note: As usual, New Caledonia was the top medalling nation in this edition of the games, which are now simply called the Pacific Games.

2010 FIBA World Basketball Championship for Men



The 2010 FIBA World Championship was hosted by Turkey.
Among 24 competing nations USA won gold medal, the second was Turkey, the third Lithuania.
