Your last post confused me. You wrote.... "the paper says perf.11 rotary press harding....613 cat. valued at 7000, that was in 1976 scott no. 610, used, genuine, short perfs..."
Are there two stamps? Your sentence mentions 613 and then also 610. |

I'm sure we all know, but just in case, there are 4 Harding memorial issues: 610 611 612 613 |

the one side states it is a 613, looks like the philatelic society states it is a no 610 short perfs, dated jul 13,1976 so does that mean I can throw it away, not worth anything? |

Carrie, the 1 1/2 Harding has nothing to do with the Memorial issues. Quote: there are two, one is a l 1/2 cent stamp the 2cent stamps is the scott no 610 sorry Why would you say there is no scott 610 when I showed the catalogue snippet that does show it? Or am I not understanding what you meant? |

Yakboomer I think by 'no 610' she meant number 610. I think that's what we all expect. But it's good practice for a new collector to go through them. |

On some certificates, especially back in the 1970's, a person submitted the stamp asking if it was "X" and the certificate in response started off with the original identity guess, then it followed with the committee opinion. So it would be possible for a cert to be submitted as if it was 613, and be told "... are of the opinion that it is a genuine 610...such and such." That seems to be the case here.
Is that how it looks to you Carrie? |

exactly how it looks, so is not worth anything if they gave the opinion it is not the right one? |

Kinda correct. It's not worth what a 613 is worth. If it is a nice Very Fine with no defects, it's probably worth what a 610 is worth. Moneywise. But a good personal story can make any stamp a prize to its owner. |
