I'm needing help with ID on these two stamps. I did enhance the pic to bring out the light parts of the larger stamp. The large one says "1 CHAHI 1 Postes"

The first stamp is Persia (Iran), I don't know much about it.

The second was issued by Russia's Army of the North. Here is a thread on it:

Right stamp is genuine, not counterfeit.

Left stamp, not sure. Stamp is too faded for me to tell, but the overprint is way too sharp. Both stamps were heavily counterfeited.

Stamp of 1902, reissued with the Provisional overprint the same year in the area of Tabriz.
I agree with khj that the clarity of the overprint is suspicious. Given that the the overprint increases the value x15 on mint and x100 on used, it's prbably worth someone's while creating a fake ovrprint.

Typically, the brownish paper on this particular Persian stamp issue suggests the stamp (no considering overprint) is also counterfeit. However, the stamp is heavily faded, so I'm not sure if the brownish appearance is natural or a result of toning.

The Persian stamps and overprints of that era are some of the most heavily counterfeited areas. Almost all the collections I've seen are a mish-mash of genuine/counterfeits (even within a set!). So never assume if you see one fake, then all the other stamps in the set are fake; likewise, don't assume one genuine means the rest of the set is genuine. Each stamp has to be checked/considered individually.

Thanks for all the info. It doesn't surprise me that I would end up with a forgery. I've already had a couple of them show their faces.
