I came across this cover and reviewed the Scott Catalog for its number. It looks like a number 24, but my question is what is the color. Is it orange red, rose, dull red and or copper red. Hopefully the scans are not to bad.

It's to a lawyer and has this seal on the back. I added that in just because I found it very interesting.

Ray, #24 is a large Queen 2c green. This is a small Queen #37. I would say from your scan that is is an orange red.

edit - a turn of the page in my Unitrade shows me that is could also be a #41 bright vermilion or 41xx orange vermilion.
Aren't these small Queens wonderful in their simplicity?

edit of the edit - sorry 41xx is with a precancel.

I'd go with orange red on my screen.

I think.

if you can figure out the perfs, that could help narrow it down. 11.5x12 or 12x12

Definatly a 41 by virtue of date and no plate dots . Colors are so tricky with fading and oxidization of this color ink but orange red would be a good label.
