Canada Post's new Picture Postage(tm) stamps are due out today (Nov 5), although I heard a rumour the roll-out has been delayed a week (the https://www.picturepostage.ca/ website says Nov 19).

However, you can actually get one of the designs *now*.

As of last Friday (Nov 2), Canada Post outlets were selling packages of Nestle Turtles chocolates (4 per pkg) pre-packaged with a $1.29 Picture Postage(tm) stamp in one of the new Picture Postage designs. The postage covers mailing of the package to anywhere in Canada.

The back of the package includes the Canada Post logo. Does that make this an "official" Canada Post product?

The following pictures say it all...

News to me. What is the selling price (pre-tax) for this product?

Sorry, should have mentioned the price!

The package of 4 chocolates with postage is $4.99 (pre-tax). That makes it $3.70 just for the chocolates. Doesn't sound like a good price (?).

I get to give my wife 4 chocolates and I get the stamp, which may or may not be a CP product and, therefore, a collectible, so not too bad. I'll buy one.

Interesting studystamps.

I wasn't aware of this promotion.

What I am wondering now is, if a purchaser can buy one and send it with the Turtles chocolates only or is that image available for general postage????

I can't help but think that it is another gimmick (?) Certainly wouldn't be the first.

I don't know of a dedicated post office in my area - all of them are inside pharmacies - would they carry this item or do I need to find a dedicated post office?

I got mine at a Shopper's Drug Mart, and had FDC's (First Day Chocolates) made on Nov. 2. My questions is will they be listed in the catalog with or without contents?

Found out my wife won't eat the Turtles and I can't, so a neighbour gets two sets from the two I bought today. I can't imagine 20 year old chocolates still in the package will demand a premium if they are actually ever listed in the catalogues. But, I bought two just in case. Of course it's a gimmick!

I didn't eat the chocolates either...I gave them to my mom. Did anyone actually eat the chocolates?

Wow, I feel for you folks! Turtles are delicious! Good thing the USPS doesn't do this; I would be at the post office daily!

The UPC barcode on the package is *not* a Canada Post one, so this is not a Canada Post-produced product. With that said, it certainly looks like they had some part in the promotion.

[I would guess that Nestle approached Canada Post to place the Nestle product in post offices across Canada; great 'gimick' and perfect product placement. Coincidentaly, the timing was such that Canada Post said "use the new Picture Postage(tm) design!" ... complete conjecture on my part.)

The stamp itself was ordered by Nestle (not Canada Post).

Thus, I expect that neither the stamp nor the product will get a listing in the Unitrade.

By the way, if you get your package hand-cancelled, be aware that it could take hours for the cancel to dry!

I have heard, from a reliable source, that the Nestle chocolate package affixed with a Picture Postage(tm) stamp were available on November 1st (a day earlier than first thought).

Thus, November 1 appears to be the first day of release.

Also, the new Picture Postage(tm) stamps being produced by Lowe-Martin instead of Canadian Bank Note, will now be available on November 19, not November 5 as originally announced (a two week delay).
