I think I finally found a winner in my collection, though with a nasty crease. The right stamp is the one in question ... the left stamp is only to check the color. A Scott 112a is listed as "Indigo and Black", whereas the normal stamp is "Ultra and Black". I included Scott 84 because that is also an Ultra. Watermark is Multi-crown CA. SG calls this the difference between a "Bright Blue" and "Indigo", which would be SG 162a. What do you think? Actual stamp is much darker than 84.

U.S. Scott #216 is the stamp I always go to for indigo, and you probably have a copy to compare. Your stamp does not look like indigo to me.

Looks like Gibbons' 'bright blue' to me, too.

These are specimens of Gibbons' 'indigo' and an ultramarine shade, from Jammu (SG54) and Kashmir (SG 91):

Note that the indigo is a very deep, dark blue.

I do have a (poor) copy of US 216 in my collection, so as soon as I can, I'll scan them side-by-side. My scanner tends to lighten all colors ... I have to figure out how to fix that.

OK, here is side-by-side with Barbados Ultramarine, the stamp in question, and US 216. As suggested, the US 216 is indigo. I'd have to say that my stamp is half-way in-between. Not quite ultramarine, but not quite indigo either. Maybe ultra-dingo?
