As I'm trimming the want list down on my early 1900 US pages, I crossed the Alaska Yukon Pacific exposition pair, or so I thought. I purchased 2 beautiful pieces.

Imperf

Perf 12

Ok, so now I figure I'm done with the pair, right ? I decided to do a little poking around on the AYP Stamp and it's history and stumbled across this. It's a very good read and just goes to show how much there really is to collect once you get into the minute details and the printing history of 1 Stamp

Very nice information on the link. Also, great margins on both stamps.

Nice. I never knew so much could be written about the varieties of one stamp!

Anyway, I have one question: On the perforated stamp shown above there is a light line through the upper part of the left numeral "2" in the denomination. Is it an imperfection in the example scanned or could it be a plate scratch?

Yes, they are both full original gum, never hinged.

Funny you posted this last night. I had always wanted that stamp (the imperf) and finally bought one on ebay last week and it just arrived yesterday. Although I settled for a used copy.

I love yours - nice pick up

That is a fascinating read! Never knew any of that stuff. Personally I like the seal on ice design. Thank you for posting that!

Hey Russ,

You said "Very nice, the imperf is also the relief break in the ribbon variety."

Would it be possible for you to highlight or circle on the picture what you are referring to?
