Found this,its Brass and measures 2-5/8" x 3" and weighs 10.3 ounces..does anyone know if this was used for printing our stmaps way back when? I know its bigger than the stamps but still had to ask as I know nothing about,any info on what this might be would be great

I'm not sure what it is. It doesn't look like it was used for printing. Being from Texas it looked like an early branding tool. They wouldn't use brass for that. I haven't a clue.

Hmmm its quite small but too big for stamps (I think) unless they downsized them,I was thinking of the old stamps with the x's on the sides,but havnt a clue how they did it back then,,mystery block!

Obviously designed to bear a lot of weight - maybe a shim for mechanical equipment of some kind.

Certainly not stamp related.
I'd go branding Iron
Note the little 8's at the bottom of the cross.
It doesn't look like brass to me.

its definatly 100% brass so heck I dont know..too big 4 stamps though huh?
