Hi,
I have uploaed two images of Glassine paper envelope..
This enveope was folded,fig.1 is out side of folded part where as
fig.2 is inner aspect of folded envelope. Is this toning of Glassine
paper. Is is because of Oxydation of paper and aging process ?

Thanks in advance.

Toning probably from sunlight. I've seen a lot of this and it is always at the top.

Yes, sunlight can cause this. Based on the toning in the second picture which is at an angle, a possible scenerio is that the glassines were lying flat on top of each other with some parts of various glassines exposed. The area under another glassine is protected. I have thrown away quite a few over the years in this condition.

Thank you very mcuh bill and ncbuckeye,

Chances of exposure to sun were minimum though, these were stored in an cuit case with nephtha and silicone gel bags. I was opening these suite cases to arrange. Also thse were stacked in a arranged fashion. Due to lack of time (secondary to type of work I was involve) could not do. Involved stamps were UNO collection. Since
1980. I beleive slow Oxydation of glassine paper fiber is one of the
factor. I agree with you exposure to sun also causes this too.

Thanks I am releived I was much worried about Foxing and mildew.I think I will try on these KI solution (Potassium Iodied)I have read that fungi get stained with KI.

Appreciate very much..

Yes, all glassine paper tones with age,
generally not recommended for long term stamp storage.
