I always give myself great Christmas presents.

What did you buy for yourself?

I'll have to wait until Christmas to show you mine.

Today is St. Nicholas Day. It's how the custom of giving Christmas presents started.

The timing couldn't better for me, because 3 of the dozen or so presents I bought myself arrived today.

St. Nicholas Day (or Sinterklaas in Dutch) is still a VERY popular holiday here in the Netherlands. Kids start getting giddy about it about three weeks in advance, when Sinterklaas arrives in the country on his boat, and starts touring the schools, clubs and towns. It certainly was my favourite day growing up...

Thanks for the link, Tinus. When I was a kid, I'd hang up my stocking on the evening of the 5th and when I woke on the 6th St. Nicholas had filled it with chocolate, nuts, oranges and small toys. I loved it.
