Hi,

So I am obviously new here, but I have a few questions.

Over the weekend, I found the stamps in the attached picture in a box of my Grandfather's old things. I did a bit of online research and it led me to this forum.

My family would ultimately like to sell them, but first, I see lots of talk about getting them certified. I also was wondering what is the best way to store them. I was also wondering how one would eventually go about selling these?

Also, is it rare to have so many attached together?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I also have some other stamps that he sent back from the war...but I am still trying to research what exactly they are.

Those without a question must be certified as there are more fake than real ones on the market. Can't tell if those are kosher or not from the photo. Can you do a close up shot or scan of 1 single stamp of the group ?

Mike,

Send me a private message. If you are able, we can make arrangements to meet at the Oregon Stamp Society clubhouse in Portland. If nothing else, I can help you with storage and handling.

And Stallzer is spot-on. These particular stamps are often replicated and need to be certified. If authentic, they are quite valuable. We (Oregon Stamp Society) have a large selection of German Philatelic Society books on forgeries that might be able to help us with this block.

Cheers!

Brian

Hi pdxMike,

You may already know this, but the emblem on these stamps is that of the Deutches Afrikakorps and was used in various forms on uniform patches, badges and vehicle markings. I wouldn't mind those, even if they were forgeries, as a piece of military history.

Welcome to the forum Mike

I can't put a dollar value on what you scanned but can tell you that the stamps shown in your posting was used by Rommel's Africa Korps and are well sought after. There are varieties that exist with those labels too.

Interesting

So because my account is new I cannot send a PM. But Brian, I am interested in meeting at the Portland clubhouse and getting some storage tips and asking some more questions.

Bujutsu, below is a URL to the highest resolution photo I have right now.
