The other day I needed some stamps for Christmas mail to Europe.
I didn't like the look of the $1.80 Xmas cookie stamp so I decided to
use the Canadian Regiments SS instead.
3 X 61c Permanent stamps = $1.83 = 3c overpayment.
But why not if it helps out with
Canada Post's deficit.
The sheets are a bit big for a regular envelope but they did fit.
Strange also licking glue after all these years of self adhesives
Anyway what struck me is the excellent fine printing
by Lowe-Martin. Even the tiny faces of the soldiers are
quite recognizable.
In the CP Details magazine the print method states
Lithography.
But these stamps do not look like the offset/litho of the past but more like photogravure.
Probably Lowe-martin uses the newer photolithography process
which has been used for printing some of the Machins lately.
