I've found the Canadian border agents to be pleasant and welcoming. They always sound happy when you come to visit. The U.S. border agent tend to grill you over and question you as if you're guilty.

As for "not shipping to Canada", those sellers are just shooting themselves in the foot as there's a lot of Canadians who collect. I've sent many, many shipments to Canada and haven't had any problems. For items 3.5 ounces and less or items greater than 1 pound, the postage to Canada is fairly reasonable.

Soon I will be selling stamps on E-BAY at a fix price ,but I will not accept orders outside of the U.S. or Canada ,I read too many stories of lost shippments and chargebacks on the different chatboards .The headaches and time to straighten out the mess plus with a lack of support from E-BAY, all supports my policy of no oversea shipments

With ebay you can exclude bidders from individual countries or whole continents. I no longer sell to South America, Africa, any of the former USSR countries, most of Asia, or Italy. These are areas where either I've had personal problems with mail not getting there, or I know other dealers who've had problems. I've never had a problem with Canada or Europe (other than Italy). It can take a very long time to get things to Australia, but they're a patient lot and pretty understanding. I decided not to ship to Italy because my daughter lived there for a few years and found the mail service to be abysmal.

In my opinion, the public services sector of Italy and the rest of the PIIGS is less than a year from collapsing anyhow. Mail - that's just a tiny taste of the troubles to come.

Having said that, the demand for precious metals, jewelry, coins, stamps, etc., may surge as the well-to-do look for a place to park their Euros.

I don't sell on a frequent basis but have sold alot to Canada. The only times I don't list for outside the US is when the weight is a little more. I have a lot of stamps up now that weighs 4 ounces and will be more than 1/4" thick envelope. I would expect the sell price for the lot to be about $5.00 and First Class International Package service for a large envelope would be $7.35 which really seems cost prohibitive.

BradS: If you can break a shipment into multiple smaller lots, it's cheaper to mail two lots at 3.5oz each or less than one lot at the 4oz rate. i.e. two 3oz lots at $1.75 each instead one 4oz. lot at $7.35.
