Been trying to find these stamps. Appear to be Semi Postal, Airmail Stamps. Scott (2010 Cat) does not have a section for Semi Postal Airmail Stamps. Anyone have any ID's (even if from other catalogs) - Looking for Numbers, and Year if possible Thanks! Eric

Ahh - After some more googling I have answered my question. They were issued by the "Albanian Government in Exile" and seem to be cinderellas, not ever used as stamps According to the thread linked below, "First in 1945, and later in 1952 in different colors with '1952' added to the design." http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=17972 |

Thanks Rod - That is interesting..
Also - There seems to be conflicting info. I wonder where the guys on StampBoards got their information?
From that thread:
mikeg Says: "According to my notes, these were produced by the Zenith Stamp Company, Brooklyn, New York."
bardhi Says: "The stamps issues by this committee are not "Exile Government" as it is portrayed 90% of the time... This was an anti-communist organization set up by Albanian ex-pats living in the US. I guess the stamps have been used as a way of fundraising. "
I wonder where more info could be found. especially about this "Group" that printed the stamps

Rod - What a great reference - Thank you for posting
Till today - Cinderellas have gone into envelopes..(I have tons - Most seem to be boy scouts and Christmas). Now I have a set in my Albania collection because they are more interesting than I thought.

This was my evil plan to get everyone interested in Cinderellas. It has backfired, I cannot afford to buy them anymore, they have become dashed expensive. Romanian Revenues have followed suit, nearly $5 each now. |

Now this is where it gets tricky. An SCF member once asked "why buy counterfeits?" If you are going to collect Albania as a specialty, then you may just want copies of forgeries etc on your album pages. It is a reference point and makes good reading.
I buy Romanian forgeries for exactly that thing, but whether you wish to pay $8 is another thing.
They may be genuine, they may be manufactured, if you are going to specialise in Albania, then you have some work to do :)

Yes, that's what I thought. Forgeries of genuine stamps are useful, but doubtful opts on fantasies may require a re-assessment.
