This stamp is not a coil, it's the 2nd stamp in a horizontal 3-stamp booklet pane; try Scott #249c.

Here is a scan of the Scott 249c pane of 3.

Yours could be the 1st or 2nd stamp from the left.

Another thing to be aware of about this issue is that the 3rd stamp from the left sometimes has its perforations on the left side cut-off and it then looks like a single imperforated stamp, especially with the large margins.

Hmmm. Too much egg nog. I was thinking it could only be the center stamp, but you're right, 1st or 2nd. This stamp baffles a lot of collectors.

Sorry, but this is not an Admiral. It is George 6 in his naval uniform.

You raise an interesting point. George VI was Admiral of the Fleet as was his father George V.

The first set of George V definitive stamps feature the King wearing his Admiral of the Fleet uniform, hence the nickname for the series, "Admirals".

When Canadian stamp collectors refer to the "Admirals" this is the issue they are referring to.

In 1942, Canada Post Office issued a set of definitive stamps featuring George VI wearing the uniforms of the three services.

1. Navy

2. Army

3. Air Force

It is obvious why this is called the "War Issue"

This is George VI wearing his "Admiral of the Fleet" uniform:

Not the uniform used for the War Issue stamps.
