If you truly want to specialize in Canada stamps, buy the Unitrade catalogue. You will be blown away by what you're actually missing.

...and for (British) India "Stanley Gibbons India & States stamp catalogue" is IMHO the most detailed option of general catalogues. Michel is pretty good alternative too (though it doesn't cover flyspecks the way SG does for British India).

For Canada I would strongly 'suggest' the Unitrade Catalogue. The numbers are the same as Scotts but the Unitrades gets deeper into the varities and conditions.

I think it also depends on whther you are interested in only stamps or postal history as well. Catalogues can get expensive so you may want to see if it is possible to borrow a catalogue first from the library or American Philatelic Society. That way you can ensure that the catalogue you end up purchasing meets your needs. And for catalogues I typically try to find on a site like ebay or Delcampe. Used are just as good, but usually much less expensive than new.

I appreciate and thank for information and advices. I moved to new State recently. I tried hard to find local Stamp club and Stamp Shop near cerritos, California area but I am out of luck.
Second question how old catalogue is reasonable to buy than Current year Edition ?

I'll add my "plug" for Unitrade.

I've mentioned a couple times how much I like it;

I prefer to spend my money on STAMPS, not catalogs, but I've never been sorry about buying Unitrade.

Tikihindi:
There's a stamp club in Long Beach. If that doesn't work for you, look up their web site for others.'
There used to be a stamp dealer in Whittier, but I don't have an address or name. Also one in Orange County; Not sure where, ask Long Beach Stamp Club,
If you can't find it, let me know. I'll do some more research. There's also Breward stamps on Chapman in Orange. He's only open on Saturdays.

The Orange County Philatelic Society meets in Villa Park (just go east on the 91):

Coast Philatelics is in Costa Mesa. They are also at the major stamp shows, SESCAL and OrcoExpo. OrcoExpo is coming up in just a couple of weeks.

By the way, Regency-Superior will be at OrcoExpo, and I imagine they will bring a supply of Stanley Gibbons catalogs with them. Although they now offer free shipping on SG products (over $50?), and you would pay sales tax here, you could also likely examine the specific volumes you may be interested in and see how well they meet your needs.

There is also a monthly stamp show in Anaheim (4th Sundays), put on by the same guy who does OrcoExpo. Scroll down for the Anaheim (& Glendale & Van Nuys) shows:
http://www.stampshowsteve.com/

For the sake of completeness, there is also a show in Arcadia (1st Saturdays), but it may not be worth the drive (nor probably be would the Glendale or Van Nuys show, but that's just my opinion).

Art: I thought I knew of every dealer in the area, but wasn't aware of the one you mentioned. Thanks for the info.

I'm up a little ways in the San Dimas area.
