Well, we all missed the barn!
Ahem, jamesw, the Victorian key type, just as I suspected.

I hesitate to cut and paste straight out of Gibbons or Scott, but both have nice illustrations of the differences, found in the front of the catalogue.
The easiest difference is the vertical line at the front of the throat. On Die I it stops at the sixth horizontal line of shading, and on Die II it stops at the eighth horizontal line of shading.
There are hair and crown differences, too. Someone should create a pictorial comparison, using actual stamps. Perhaps along the lines of the KGV die differences I posted a while back. Any takers?
[edit: I see they've posted it themselves, as a part of a Linn's Refresher Course, found here...
http://www.linns.com/howto/refreshe...rcourse.aspxThis Course focuses on the throat line out of the differences set out in the catalogue.
Also, Gibbons and Scott differ on the spotting features they use for the two dies. The more, the better, as far as I'm concerned, because cancels are often covering up one or two or three features.]
