Quote: Face value is $18.68 Wow, I guess there will always be opportunist around who will take advantage of a situation. Apropos, wonder why do I get the French version when I enter the ebay link # 251235581121 if the seller is in Brampton, Ontario? |

I received a set of the three original rates from a Canadian dealer today. Very reasonably priced.
I really like the design and colours. I might even ask that my avatar be changed to this image! Well, maybe not. I shoudl stick to Christmas, my primary collecting interest.
Now I'll ask some friends in Toronto to surce a set of the new rates from a Toronto-area kiosk.

The second ebay offering of all nine values went for $86.00! And they are all still available over the counter. It's just that the counter is a long way away from most collectors. All they issue is an OFDC. Seems unfair to me. The ebay site comes up English for me. The "helper elf" is gone from the Longueuil office near me so it'll be very difficult for a person not familiar with the machine to get all nine values out. Go prepared with stacks of paper weighing 40, 75, 150, 250, 350, 450 grams and patience. It takes a lot of time, which could be discomforting if others are waiting to use it as well. But the last time I was there, no one else had used the machine that morning. After all your work, you might well want to charge $100! |

I saw one set of three with the 2012 rates and with the lines on the two edges go for $US69. If my memory is working properly. I have only seen that one set offered for sale. |

On ebay, time expired on the third set of all nine "kiosk" stamps, asking $55, and there were no takers. A fourth set is currently offered at $40 ($45.50 buy-it-now) [# 271170708793]. That's half of what the second set went for. We'll see how it goes. Prices for the basic three stamps are now quite reasonable, starting around $6. I have seen none with the guide marks as yet, Minesweeper. No 61˘ sets have been offered since Feb. 25, when they went for $44. They must have evaporated. ------------------------- Oops! One set was indeed offered today: # 390559236185 starting around $60. |

Another set of nine (2013 values) passed by the ebay gavel today without any bidding. Starting price: $55.00. However, yesterday one did sell at the buy-it-now price of $44.50. So far, 4 sets have been sold to 4 different buyers by 2 sellers in the last month. ($53.20, $86.00, $45.50, $45.50) A new set is up for grabs over the next five days (# 271174412702). |

On ebay interest is growing in the older 2012 "kiosk" 61˘ value set of 3. The latest set went today for $88.00 with 4 bidders. (Any of you guys?) The dramatic rise in price can be seen in the following graph: Imagine what a set of the nine original values would go for? I have now noticed the one offering of "hashmarks" on the 2013 values. It was # 261171800227 and went for $50.00. However, the marks were smaller and not in the same place as those indicated previously in this blog. |

The prices are getting insane...88$ for less than 3.50$ worth of stamps that came out only a couple of months ago. Can't wait to see if the prices go up from her or get back down.
I can't wait to see a set with guide lines. |

The current $88 price is definitely not insane.
There is a high demand not just among Canadian collectors but fro all over the world. I have received emails from Taiwan, Germany and Spain asking about these. ATM stamps are highly collectible. Just check the British Post and Go labels.
There is a very low supply of the first set of labels. They were only available for one month and few collectors were aware of their existence. Once collectors found out, many of them lived too far away from Toronto, Vancouver or London to buy labels before the rates increased on January 14.
High Demand + Low Supply = High Prices
The face value of the original stamps is irrelevant. ATM collectors must have Canada's first set of ATM stamps!
I am not trying to influence the market. It's just the reality.
I suspect that when the stamps were being offered in the $30 range people thought this was ridiculous. I'm sure the vendor at that price now wishes he had waited a bit longer to sell them.
It may be that at some point the price will be ridiculously high . There could be a speculation phase. But we aren't there now. $88 is not insane.

There is a caveat however. These vending machines are still in the experimental stage. Who knows, in the future, users may be allowed to input ANY value, like in the United States and some European countries.
On another note, I assume the basic first class value will eventually be replaced by the permanent "P". |
