Strips are now coming out on ebay. I didn't know that was possible, I've seen strips of 2, 3 and even 4. Also the're not the same denomination. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canada-Self...em232949b510I haven't use the machine yet so I don't know how to make these. I find it odd for the first strip to pop out 3-4 months after the release of the stamps. |

It should be noted that these are NOT the first ATM stamps. That dubious honour goes to a 45-cent and 46-cent offering through CIBC automated banking machines back in the late 90's. The 18 stamps per sheetlet were the same size as Canadian banknotes, which allowed them to be vended through the cash machines.

The 'postage labels'(1) discussed in this thread are "computer vended postage"(2), not "automated teller machine" dispensed stamps. Big difference. (1) this is what Canada Post refers to these as, based on their descripion on the back of the official first day cover. (2) stamp collector's term |

I agree that there is some confusion when referring to these labels as ATMs. The term ATM does not refer to Automated Teller Machine. It is derived from the German expression as explained on Rainer Reimund's excellent website: ATM - the German abbreviation for "Automatenmarken", i.e. postage labels from electronical stamp vending machines - exist since 1969. They are - according to the Postal Law of the UPU (passed at the UPU Congress at Hamburg, 1984) - postage stamps that are printed by electronical stamp vending machines. http://www.atm-stamps.de/frame_e.htmPerhaps collectors should adopt the term that has been in use for several years in the US : CVP : Computer Vended Postage A European collector of these labels calls them ATMs. An American collector refers to them as CVPs. We will have to wait and see what term Canadians collectors settle for. This won't be decided by Canada Post! |

I think my 78.20$ was a good deal, seemed a lot at the time, now I'm not so sure. Bought 20 sets to make sure to get the ones with the guidelines. Obviously the 10$ whales were not part of the purchase. |

Minesweeper - how did you get those old rates? Are they now allowing input of any values?
Edit: I now see your receipt is dated January 9. I was confused because you said you had not used the machine in the post above (March 23).

BeeSee : I haven't use the machine. I was not the one who bought the stamps. I had to ask the boyfriend of a friend of my parents who lives in Toronto to get them for me. |

As was shown here earlier via an ebay link, the machines are being modified to allow for strips of 4 to be released. In addition, I have heard that a new paper stock is (or has?) been introduced in the last day or two (or in the next day or two). Not sure yet what the difference is (hope to find out more very shortly). Anybody near a machine that can verify the new stock? (I'm nowhere near one). Update (Mar 27): the "new stock" is a change in the adhesive, which, obviously, is not visible from the front. Anyone near a machine to get an example to see if there is a change in the fluorescence? |

Careful here. I would suppose that new paper stock (with new adhesive) would be replaced as stock runs out. That would be different for each location. -------- The ebay prices for a current set of nine has stabilized at $39.99. There have been about twenty sold, and another eight on offer. Interestingly there has been little bidding. Each buyer seems to be taking his turn, like climbers on Mount Everest. The original set of three, on the other hand, keeps climbing. $125 on March 24. (And there are stock pages full of them above!) |

I went today to Montreal Station H. I bought 3 copies. I don't see any difference. Nothing different also with tagging.

On the first Monday of each month, Linn's Stamp News includes the newest Scott number assignments.
Today's (Apr 1) issue (dated Apr 15) included the numbers for the Canadian stamps released since the November 28, 2012 Grey Cup stamp through the Black Heritage Month issues of February 1.
So, this group of stamps includes the 2012 Canada Pride reprint with the 'Canada' backprint, the 2013 rate-change definitives, etc.
In this same time frame was the release of the computer vended postage stamps (December 12).
Scott Publishing did not assign a number to these.
Are they a postage stamp, a postage label (Canada Post's term), or postage meters (what some USA collectors have been referring to them as)? |

Quote: Are they a postage stamp, a postage label (Canada Post's term), or postage meters (what some USA collectors have been referring to them as)? I do not know any official (stamp related that is) term, but in my mind, they are similar to the FRAMA stamps / labels of the rest of the world. A meter stamp or label would have the date on it. FRAMA only have the denomination. |

"Puzzler" - While it is true that meters do have dates on them (in the US such meters must be used on the day they are dated), but in the recent past some US computer vended postage stamps have carried a date (but could be used on any date like regular stamps - they have since gone to just a month and year, although they include a code than can be converted to the date of sale) |
