I've never seen a pre-addressed mulready. The company was a printer publisher in London. It all looks to new though and the printing looks a bit different. I'm not a collector of these. I've been an admirer though. What does the backside look like? |

I think it's a reproduction. What does it feel like? (I still love it.) |

Clearly a reproduction... not a fake though... as it has an added monogram to differentiate it from an original. No security threads also. Might be worthwhile investigating this to possibly age the cover? An original would look something like this on the back... ...as well as having a receiving postmark (possibly an origin postmark too). |

Your "cover" could be 100 years old or more. My guess is that it is an advertising reproduction.
"...London partnership of Field & Tuer and their imaginative and influential publishing imprint, the Leadenhall Press. Andrew Tuer was a man of energy, curiosity and wit: a successful businessman, inventor, advocate for fine printing, publisher, designer, collector, author and correspondent. The annotated checklist describes nearly 450 publications issued by Field & Tuer and the Leadenhall Press from 1863 - 1913."
I believe the company ceased to exist around the mid 1920's. |

The owners would have their monogram on their business stationery etc and it changed from time to time with changes to management (see quote below). " The well-known firm of Field and Tuer (the Leadenhall Press) has been dissolved, Mr Field retiring. We note an alteration in the monogram. The « FT » has given place to the monogram « LP, »" So you can see the monogram changed from FT (Field and Tuer) to LP (?). I'm not sure what the monogram letters are but a better scan would help as would a closer look at the bottom fold writing which may hold a clue. Ownership records should be available online and perhaps a name or names would fit the monogram which may also date the cover. You never know...maybe it even dates from the 1880's |

Here's 50 Leadenhall Street, City of London, today. Could it be the same building from 1841? Cheers, Robert |
