The below set of stamps are teh 1931 - 1938 series of "Emtwined 2's"

Scott lists the following color varieties in 2 types: Type I has shading on the 2's, Type II is no shading.

Red Brn
Olive Blk
Grnsh Gray
Black (Type II)
Salmon (Type II)
Rose

(Imperfs)
Black (Type II)
Salmon (Type II)

Now check out the 3rd stamp in the first row. It has shading, so it is a type I. The color looks to be "olive" - However - check out the outside borders. They are different than the others (The dots especially). I think it is a #282 (Olive) - But wanted anyones thoughts on the differences.

Also - Note the Perfs on the 3rd stamp - Don't they seem different then the rest?

Hi Eric,

I don't have any of this set to compare these with. However, here's the SG catalogue perspective in case it helps.

SG lists the following stamps, all perf 11¾ (line) unless otherwise noted:

1931-1938

N215 2p brown-red to claret (I)
N216 2p olive-black (I) (1934)
N217 2p bronze green to grey-green (I) (1934)
N218 2p deep black to slate (II) (1936)
N218a - imperf (pair) (1937)
N219 2p vermilion (II) (1938)
N219a - imperf (pair)
N219b - perf 11¾ x 11
N220 2p carmine to rose (I)(1938)
N220a - imperf (pair)

They describe the type I stamps as "numeral shaded in places, size 21 x 29 mm", and the type II stamps as "numeral unshaded, size 21¾ x 30 mm".

They also say that "Forgeries exist which differ in size, paper and perforation".

Ok - thanks - I am thinking forgery then... Weird cause it's not really a high-value stamp

Thanks for your help!
Eric
