In my folder of Canadian stamps is a sheet of paper with 2 rows of (forgive me I don't know exactly which stamps) multi coloured queen Victoria stamps in 5 colours. All are stamped with a Montreal post office stamp in two different inks as a test of those inks from 2 companies supplying ink to t he post office. My grandfather worked at the post office. One was approved for use based on this test run. Its dated 1896 and signed by some official or another the signature is not decipherable by me although its clear. What would you call it as an item?

This item is worth a SIGNIFICANT amount of money, and any naysayers will not change my mind one bit. |

It might be, but without a large clear scan to determine exactly what it is we are looking at, there is no way to know. Besides, "significant" can mean very different things to different people. |

Not right cat numbers - you have 34,35,36 37(41) and 38. small queens on an exceptional piece of canadian postal history . Not only a great item but you have great provenance tied to your grandfather and I would fully agree with Doug that this is a valuable pc . I know Canadas postal museum is not the best but something like this would belong there I think. A high res scan would be a bonus for us to look over. If you have to host the scan on photobucket and you should be able to copy IMG url direct in your reply. Postmaster general at this time was Sir William Mullock. Not sure if the WW looking initials may be WM but signature may tell more. |

I love it! Bell telephone number just 4 digits. Signature would have been from the official at the ink company. Me wonders what else your grandfather may have left in this folder???? |
