Ross can you please edit your title to something along the lines of unique canadian cancel proof sheet with small queens. This way it will be searchable and even come up on google for educational purposes. |

Hi Ross,
That piece is magnificent. I agree with doug2222. It is worth serious huckleberries. As to what to call it. How about Stamp cancellation Ink test sheet.

OK I edited the topic, is that a good way to describe it? unique Canadian cancel proof sheet with small queens
I do appreciate your comments is this something I should get appraised and insured and if so and its OK to ask, is there an appraiser in Eastern Ontario someone would recommend? I know you guys can't put a value on it but hundreds? More? Everybody likes to think they have treasures, its fun to look for it.
I was just thinking if I got the stamps organised I could pass on something from a great great grandfather forward to a future (and as yet to be conceived) grand child if they showed a real interest in stamp collecting. I would say this sheet is the only interesting thing in the folders, the rest are just stamps some seemingly more rare than others but not exactly big dollar items. I do have a panel from a 1800's mail wagon somewhere it has a coat of arms on it.... in storage.
I think my wife has a current Photo Bucket Account I will ask her. |

If you are near Ottawa there are a few good dealers there. Ian Kimmerly for one has vast knowledge and should be able to appraise to some extent. If you google BNAPS and look for the small queen study group (i forget the name of the guy) and send him an email with good pics he may be able to give you direction and may want to with your permission talk about or show the piece in newsletter or the like. Value is realy tough as I am pretty sure this is a 1 only item and on any given day would be worth what a specialist wants to pay. Get 2-5 specialist in same room and skies the limit what it could fetch. I'd say to a dealer $500++ retail $1000++ the right auction ????++ . For insurance purposes its really not replaceable so thats a hard call. |

Thanks I had found the Kimmerly site but I will Google BNAPS and sure I don't mind sharing the piece, it seems to have brought a few smiles here! I have obviously found a great board for stamp discussions, I will have some preservation question in the near future for the rest of the stamps I have. I found that sign but I am sure it can't be 1800's I must be mis-remembering. Its on hard board so that makes it 1900's but before 1935 (?) when my grandfather retired. Family history is a pain but my mother is well versed in ours! I will post a picture of it soon I just have to remember how iPhones and windows computers talk to each other. Thank you all again! :) |

By significant, I was thinking around $1500, but did not want to bias the discussion at that point. But in the right auction, anything goes. This is one of those obscure items that, on any given day, could bring far over estimate. Anyone can own $uperb MNH $mall Queen$, but only one person can own this page.
Has ANYONE here ever seen anything remotely like this item??? |

To me that just shows up as a small picture. I wasn't really thinking of selling it but I am convinced somebody who knows about these things should see it and make a guestimate for insurance. we have a few small (value) art pieces in that price range and they are covered for very little extra. |

I think you are setting the image-area too large. Let's assume it is 4 x 6 inches. Set your image-area to 5 x 7 inches, about 600dpi. Do not use the entire scanner glass and crop away the excess. Once it is in your "My Pictures" folder, right-click and open it with Microsoft Office Picture Manager, then reduce its size down to about 90KB, and save it again under the same name. Then you're ready to post it here. |

you have the photobucket account so I suggest doing a 1200x1200dpi scan (huge file) and upload to Pbucket without any sizing or alterations other than maybe cropping the excess. Once on PB when you scroll over the image a box will open that has 4 different codes for instant message sending, html and the last is IMG for forums. Simply click the IMG code and it will copy automatically and then paste in your message here . This way you won't need to shrink or edit anything and when we click on it here it will be full blown. Whos to say if the queens have re entries or one of the many other possibilities which would just make that much sweeter. As for insurance -- Like I said previously you can not replace this so for insurance purposes you can likely get a really strong evaluation maybe $5000 or more. However don't look at that as anything other than insurance value not anything to do real world value. Definatly glad you stopped in here and hope you will make yourself at home and join in the craziness! |

I have a rescan (apparently I wasn't at 600 dpi) Do not buy an HP all in one wireless printer scanner! I will play with photobucket and try again. I did contact Bill Radcliffe at BNAPS and he forwarded my name to Guillaume Vadeboncoeur who is quite local to me who may be able to give me some hands on help. I also talked to Mr Radcliffe on the phone and he is a wealth of information. Thanks for the suggestion! |
