While watching "The Men who Built America" on the History channel, in episode 3, they show two men (JP Morgan & Westinghouse) opening letters that will reveal who won the contract to build a powerplant at Niagara Falls. One close-up of the letter being opened shows a copy of Scott type A157 (554, et al) from 1922 on the cover. The event took place in 1893. I'm such a geek :)

I saw that same thing just last night and noticed the same thing. When I pointed it out to my wife, she called me a nerd. We are geeks. That is a good show,"The Men that Built America" |

I do that too.
Girlfriend and I were watching Downton Abbey -- I saw KGV stamp; she was unimpressed. |

I guess I should retract the meter crap anology especially after seeing that french label that sold for 20k . Now I will likely eat crap while re checking all meters I have. Always wondered with all the box lots people come looking for values on , why none of these storage auction shows have not come across a stamp hoard in a storage unit. Would take 4 seasons to figure out what they had but would be an almost expected find. |

The thing I notice most about watching TV is you get about 90 seconds of show and seven minuets of commercials. Guess I'm not too much of an observer. I too have watched "The Men who Built America" and remember seeing the letter mentioned but wasn't paying any attention to the stamps. I will be looking now though. When watching the "The Men who Built America" |

I don't want to turn into one of those guys who point out every little mistake in movies & TV shows, but this one was right up my alley and I couldn't resist commenting |

TinMan, I watch very little TV in real time. I have the DVR record the shows I like and then I can skip the commercials. |

While watching the Notebook (with my wife) I made sure that stamps he uses to mail his 365 letters were correct for that period. |
