My unexpected, acquired collection is almost sorted, lots of nice NH pre-1900 stamps, I was thinking of going to an up-coming major stamp show in Toronto or I could sit at home and use an online stamp auction site like Delcampe. Not sure what to do.

My problem with a stamp show, if they are like coin shows, is some dealers won't make an offer but want you to name a price which I am clearly incapable of doing. I have to consider the cost involved of going to Toronto, three hour drive.

If you want to get rid of them in one go (as opposed to sitting on online auctions sites, which could take a while) you don't necessarily have to come all the way to Toronto. I see you are in Leamington. There's a stamp show coming up in Sarnia on October 5. Most of the dealers do the rounds and hit most of the shows.
That would give you a month to do some research and figure out a price.
You can get current stamp catalogues a most public libraries.

An after thought, there's also John Sheffield's stamp auction house in London. Either way they're not as far as Toronto.

Based on what you've posted on this forum so far I wouldn't bother with an auction House, they don't take in collections of minimal value Stamps. Dealers might not even make on offer on it because most dealers already have plenty of stock on common stamps.

Does your collection hold some gems that you haven't shown us ?

Find a dealer or person who is a stamp collector to find out if you have anything more than common issues. Of course you can buy some resources or use the web to study and find the values. One thing you will find is that the age of the stamps does not make them valuable.

Good luck and hope you have one that is worth some money, if not just pass on the collection or take up stamp collecting.
