hello gents stumbled on this stamp forum while on my way to the coin forum across the web and decided to take my time to show you all a stamp that has been troubling me any one care to chime in on what it is?

Not much more to add. Mintage was 335,494,000. Catalogue value in fine condition is .25. Pictured stamp in coin world terms would be described as "pocket change".

Is there any sort of story behind your copy of this stamp? Or are you just generally curious?

I agree it looks like Scott 217. Sound examples are plentiful, and sell for a few cents for used, maybe ten to twenty cents for mint. Yours looks like it has some condition issues.

This design was used for the first six values in the 1935 set.

The story is worth more than the stamp. For that reason alone, I would attach the stamp to a piece of cardstock, laminate it, and use it as a bookmark. It will be a conversation piece for years to come!
