I have been pondering which way of storing stamps is the most efficient from a shelf space standpoint only: Albums, stock pages in binders, stock books, my #102 display cards in a box, etc. I'm nervous my current shelf and the binders is going to fall over and I won't be found under the definitives!

As a person who lives in one of world's smallest spaces (aka Hong Kong) and has a huge collection. I can give you advice. A) get a new shelf? B) Seperate things that don't match and put them somewhere else C) get a shelf restrainer (i think they sell them here...) to prevent books and binders from falling. Hope these help!

The secret of limited storage space is to go UP, not sideways. I have two file cabinets (not used for stamps) of the same height, and long ago, I built a platform of 2 x 4's and half-inch plywood to span between them. You could put 1000 pounds on that platform. The highest item on that super-shelf is about as high as I can reach, but the storage space is immense. I would add that 75% of my stamps are in glassines, in 60+ heavy-duty two-piece postcard boxes, on heavy-duty metal shelves, all indexed, in order, perfectly organized and highly accessible, in my walk-in closet. (no clothes, just stamps)
