Hey Everyone,

I've got a collection of over ten-thousand ca1900-1920 Mexican stamps wrapped in bundles that I want to sell. Can anyone recommend a stamp auction house that may specialize in Mexican/Latin American stamps?

Thank you!

In bundles like that an auction house would likely toss them in with a floor lot. For them to consider taking your material there must be relative value and ease of sale. If you have a bundle of 100 of a rarer higher catalog value stamp then of course it would be considered but as a whole it will be looked at as kiloware.

Civil War issues in that period are desireable. But 19th Century issues would be great!

Go to the local stamp stores and get the best offer you can. Use this best offer price as the starting price and auction off the lot here at the SCF. We will get the best price here.
1913~1917 are issues of the Mexico Revolution stamps. There are some of the rarest Mexican stamps issued in this time period. I don't believe that you will find any rarities in bundled stamps. 99% of these stamps are inexpensive.

Hi byrdste

I do not know about an auction house for the bundles but contact this dealer and maybe he can do something for you:

Byrdste: you can find a list of dealers who have Mexico as a specialty on the web site of the Mexico Elmhurst Philatelic Society. I'll disagree politely with the fellow member who said you'll get the best price here on SCF. If you have something of value, you'll do better with Mexico specialists. Among others on that list, Nicholas Follansbee runs a periodic auction. I got a very nice and reasonably priced "floor lot" from Nicholas in his fall, 2012 auction.

Rather than rely on a dealer to give you a price, you'd probably be wise to get the current Scott catalog, or a recent one, and do some cataloging yourself. You'll also give yourself an idea of exactly what you may have, hidden in the bundles.

Kennieser does deal in Latin America, but is not on the MEPSI list.
