Hi,

I am going to be in the Wilmington, Del. area Friday and Saturday. I have located The Stamp Center at Dutch Country Auctions. I know their big thing seems to be auctions (there are none scheduled this weekend), but there is also a retail store.
Has anyone been there?

Any idea what their basic stock is? I want to bring a want list or be prepared for the proper type of browsing and shopping.

I've seen their listings through the Stamp Auction Network, but I would really like to visit there myself to see the lots. I've know others who have bought from them and are happy with the lots they get - lots of cover lots. I don't know anything about the store except at least you don't have to pay taxes.

I can't speak for their retail store, but Dutch Country is my favorite auction house for cover lots, although occasionally bidding wars can take material to unrealistic levels (like any auction). On average, each of their "large cartons" tend to produce 2 20+ pound boxes in shipment, as opposed to somewhere like Apfelbaum's large cartons producing only a single 25 pound box. They are very friendly and communicative, and you can get some very good deals. If I have any critique, it would be that they do not automatically send tracking information like other auction houses do, which can be a pain on signature required deliveries.
