Hi,
I'm sure this info is on the Forum somewhere, but I just can't find it..........

What are the member designations? I'm a "valued member", but there are also "pillar of the community", "supporter", and others.

What is the difference?

Thanks,
Mobilman44

Not a 100% on this but I think once you reach 500 or 1000 posts then you become a pillar, To be a supporter you have to donate to the site then you will be a supporter and will be able to sell on the BST section.

It's a simple hierarchy:
* fewer than 500 posts are 'Valued Members'
* 500 and above are 'Pillars of the Community'

That was it for a LONG time, but last year, we invented a new category for Rod222 when he reached 10,000 posts -- "Bedrock of the Community" The idea was to play on pillar and also indicate how important his contributions have been.

Currently, Rod222 is the only member of "Bedrock" but Philb is getting close at over 9000 posts.

The "Supporter" designation comes with donating to help maintain the site.

Are the posts at the bottom of the box at the left our "quality posts" or just our total posts?

I believe they are all posts except for those made in the welcome and maybe selling sections.

How does someone really know how many of their posts are quality posts? As the rules say, something like "Nice Buy" is not actually a quality post. Members are allowed to participate in certain events after they have a certain number of quality posts. A good example is me. this will be my 130th post. But I probably don't have 100 actual quality posts. So how do we know?

The quality post is more for people whose posts are not in touch with the thread theme.

In other words someone who does not read the thread and leave a comment like, Cool!

Also the longer a person is here the more of a family member they become and are more unlikely to do the wrong thing when selling etc.

IBFS & Mobilman: Don't try to "over-analyze" the definition of "quality" post.

As others have alluded, the real intent was discount someone who tried to jump in and post "Me Too" in 50 different places. If you're reading, asking (or answering) questions, and in general "participating" in SCF discussion, no moderator is going to grade your posts or disqualify one or two of them.

If posts were graded, or dumb questions discounted, my post count would be 4

Speaking of MR bedrock where has he been? Is he off riding the swisse alps or something . I think after 25000 post you should be chartered and allowed a free beer once a year from the supporters fund.
