Interesting Perfin "Back Stamp"

The following is a scan of Scott #192 with a 'NYC' perfin (perfin ID is N28 [4th Edition] or N30 [5th Edition] - New York Central Railway, issued in New Yor, NY.

What is interesting is the text on the back of this stamp.

If this is text from the envelope that has been transferred to the stamp when it was used, then I would have thought that the text would have been on top of the gum, and therefore washed off when the stamp was soaked.

Has anyone else seen this, or have knowledge to address this interest?

Yes, I would say it is text from e enveloe that didn't come off when soaked.

If it was printed on the stamp, it would not be reversed.
