In 2008 I sent an Australia 2 pound black & red CofA watermark Kangaroo & Map of Australia stamp to an auction house and it sold for $110 but the buyer claimed not as described and sent the stamp back to the auction house. So we did not receive the $93 for the sale of the stamp.
Then the auction house lost our stamp and offered us $75 compensation to be spent at an auction of there's. I very politely said no and I no longer want to be on your auction mailing list.
End of January this year I asked to be put back on the auction mailing list and asked if the $75 credit was still available to me for auction bidding.
The reply was we found your stamp what do you want us to do with it. My reply was I want the stamp mailed back to us please!
The stamp got lost again. Then it was found and mailed to us 2 weeks ago.
Listed the stamp a week ago and it sold today for $267. What can I say..... What a journey! But all has ended well and it has also been payed for already. 2008 to 2013.

Can't say that I think too highly of an auction house that misplaces material. It doesn't inspire very much confidence. |

mmmmm - does anyone else see the gap - stamp lost in 2008 by the looks of it - auction contacted in 2013 and they advise that stamp was found - when was it found and why wasnt kgv collector only told when he made contact with the auction house? - trust them? - no way |

I'd be both cross and happy at the same time! I also might be more cautious about using that particular auction house again.. |

Put up the name of the firm ,what are they going to cry about .You giving them negative feedback because they low ball the price and lost it twice in their office .They will not make a issue of it ,they just want it to go away quietly .Your doing them a service by not nameing them . |

Mistakes do happen. The good auction houses rectify it quickly. Couple years ago, I was the successful bidder on some Mozambique Ceres multiples. Got the envelope from the auction house on one week day and it was empty. I was like, what gives here. At least they sent along the credit card receipt. Was going to call them the next afternoon, but checked mail the next morning first. Sure enough, a second envelope had arrived at my p.o. box with a short note: We're really sorry. Here are your stamps.
I still use the house for both buying and selling (Michael Rogers Inc. in Winter Park, Florida). |

This auction house has a very low grading from me, for very obvious reasons. I would never sell with them ever again!
So if this auction house found my stamp why did they not inform me! What a total insult! But I need to get over it and work on the buying needs of our business and not let the emotion rule.
As a buyer I use PO money orders only and all my stuff is reg mail. All this info is on my invoice or I do not pay. In the past if a seller wants to play around with that system it ends up costing them a lot of money. As by having proof of all dealings with the auction house the debt collector charge the seller because they are totally in error. Unpleasant but effective!
But KGV 1d reds in bulk, recent high values in bulk, mini sheets from the last 20 years Australia in bulk and unusual decimal items have opened the door on some of the sadder auction houses I have had the misfortune to deal with.
As a buyer I can be totally covered by insurance in one form or another but as a seller I can not.
I am very choosy what auction houses I will sell with these days. |

Minor! They have an auction day as an end to their auctions. Not a public auction with an auctioneer and people bidding from the floor.
As a general rule having a secret auction. An auction where only the auction owner truly knows who bid on what and how much are very dangerous to deal with.
The Australian stamp industry is so interbred it is far to dangerous a thing to name and shame in the public domain. That approach can turn on your business and destroy you as a seller. It is heaps different if you are a collector only.
