I've had a couple of really great finds on ebay recently. Would like to know about your experiences. Mine have both involved the same stamp. Two copies of New Zealand SG 76 in used fine to very fine condition, the 1862 6 penny brown Chalon, perf 13, mistaken in at least one of the cases for the perf 12 1/2 1864 variety. Purchase price for both ~ Cdn $15; catalogue value - ~$450 Cdn. In the most obvious situation, I advised the dealer of his mistake but he graciously said "you got a bargain".

It is good to hear bargains can still be found on ebay. It is nowhere close to what it was 5-10 years ago. My favorite buy was a US Scott 118 that was identified as the more common 119. An 1869 pictorial with a $700 vs $250 catalog value. It was fine to very fine and sound with a nice cancel. It is exciting to find a sleeper every once in a (rare) while. |

For $200.00 + shipping & insurance I scored these babies!: It's also the most I have ever paid for anything on ebay! I had to add this though- I seen this auction and it was started at 100.00. I put a 200.00 bid never in a billion years did I think I would win it. I left for Lock Haven for a week and when I got back my wife greeted me at the door with a cross look on her face and her foot tapping and I was clueless. She said what did you spend 200 bucks on? I was clueless at the moment until I checked my ebay watch list and seen that I won it. I had to pay and then sadly return it because I couldn't, at that time, afford to part with that much money. Anyway, that's probably the best deal I ever got on ebay to date! I know that any normal person would have just stuck it out until pay-day but I'm on a pension and m daughter had a fever of 106 degrees and had to take to the Dr.'s more than a few times and we desperately needed the money. Easy-come & Easy-go I suppose? I seen it re-listed and the seller now has a reserve on it! lol Damn I could kick myself in the ass but I done what was ultimately right. |

Hi, Well, I have been after the Scott International Albums - Part 1 and Part 2. The Part 2 volume I won was advertised as the 1953 issue and owned by a couple of sisters. Their parents gifted them with the albums (they also had part 1) back in the 1950s. Anyway, they were "one owner" and advertised that they contained "100s of stamps". Well, I won the auction for $80. I was amazed at the low final number, but figured the low number of stamps was the reason.
The album arrived beautifully wrapped, and I went through it page by page. I immediately realized the number of stamps - all nicely mounted - was way more than a few hundred. So I started over and counted.......... with the final tally being 2,850 stamps!!
Needless to say I am very happy over my find, and will cherish this collection as much as the original owners did. |

Hi, I've been with ebay since 2000, and have well over 1100 feedbacks (all positive thankfully). Typically, you get what you buy - assuming one has read all the "fine print". As a result, my disappointments have been minimal - and minor. On the other side of the coin, I have had a few good surprises - the Scott Part II album being the biggest. Gotta say, that is one big, heavy and multi-paged book! |

My best deal was I bid on an won a small packet of 500 WW stamps. I figured for a little over .01 per stamp including shipping It probably would be an ok price to fill a few holes.... and most certainly would not have any earth shattering stamps in the mix. Well when the packet came It had a little over 2000 stamps. I contacted the seller and told him of the mistake and he said that It must have gotten mixed up when shipped. He thanked me for my honesty and said to keep the stamps anyway. |

I recently bought an old world collection it has more than 600 stamps, many are MH, but there are some used as well. The collection includes the first issues of Greece, some Liberia, some nice Great Britian, Lots of others, but I have to check them over. There is also a one shilling Natal which is overprinted postage and apparently they sell for a couple of hundred of dollars. Horamakhet |

This was more than a year ago, but my favorite was a sound perfectly centered Scott 148 that turned out to have an H grill - so it was a Scott 137.
