Bummer, picked up a nice set of Guadeloupe Paris 1931 Colonial expo and my Scott album does not even have spaces for them..will have to pirate other spaces ! I can see having a want list..but do I have to have a list of which stamps fit in the book ?

Big Blue, a "representative album", will have omissions at times that seem puzzling.

I do maintain a checklist for Big Blue on my blogsite, and yes, Guadeloupe does not show the Colonial Exposition Issue with spaces.

It is puzzling, isn't it....... I got my second Part 1 from an ebay auction yesterday. Both of the Part 1s have about 2600 stamps in them and I'll be consolidating the two into one Part 1. In going thru the pages there are a number of stamps that are in open areas or on the borders. Many are of denominations or color variations not designated in the album. And then there are those that are just not shown at all.
So that leaves us with a choice..... to put them on inserted blank pages, or to squirrel them away for future use - when we can get that all inclusive album(s)...........
I'm really not complaining, for that is simply the way it is.

My messy way... I try to fit what I can on the margins of the page, then resort to blank pages. The key is to keep track of what you have...

As I begin "work" on consolidating three albums into one Big Blue Part 1, my thought is to insert only those stamps that have spaces available for them. Those that don't, I'll squirrel away into country specific glassine envelopes. Gee, that sounds good now - but I'm well aware that I might feel otherwise down the road.

You know, all this makes me wonder........ has anyone ever collected all the issued stamps???

mobilman, yes..back when there were many fewer stamps..wealthy men used to complete for the most valuable stamps..sending agents around the world..money being no object..must be nice eh ? Some may have missed completion by one or two stamps...i don't know if this included the Indian States

I've been using the blank quadrilled pages with my Internationals since I bought my Parts 1 through 5 in the early 1980s. For my Portuguese colonials, I've resorted to almost exclusively blank pages for the early sets for each colony; then switch back to the regular Intl. pages after 1940.

Steve that reminds me ..a friend gave me a binder to replace one that was really hurting..now I see the "rod" showing through the material on another one...nothing lasts forever !! Its not only the stamps themselves we spend on !
