Hi all! I'm reading more and more about not removing stamps from paper (not full covers, that's a given) to preserve the postal history. I've encountered a few in my collection I really like so far and have decided to cut them neatly. I'm not sure what would look best for display though. Anyone here do the same? If so, would you mind showing examples of what you've done with them? Mounts? hinges? stock album? I'd be interested in seeing or hearing opinions :) Good to be back here on SCF, lots of new collectors and all the same names I remember from a couple years back. Cheers ~Ash

Well, I know this isn't as nice as some keep them, but this is basically what I do with the 2x4's (or whatever the dimensions are)I just put them in a vario stock sheet with my doubles for easy location.

Thanks for posting this example ILS! Essentially this is what my pages are looking like too. I'm thinking I'll likely hinge my favorites in my best album and keep the rest in the stockbook. Anyone have any displays with them hinged they'd like to share? Or am I gonna get scolded for hinging?! hmmm

I personally hinge them into my albums, but I am still a very novice collector, so I might be incorrect in doing this.

Ash,
In addition to stamp collecting, I am also a postmark/postal history collector.
My covers get their own mounts and 2 X 4's are mounted with acid free photo hinges.
It takes up a lot of room but since this is a collecting area for me, I don't mind.
Dan

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

I do mine similar to the previous post by danstamps54. The "problem" with creating your own album page is that you can't get many more than 4 or 5 cut squares to a page.

I did this merely as an example just to show how I set up a sample page:

Frankly, I only set this up intending to print some pages in the future (I haven't done it yet) because if you do your own album pages, you'd have to set up different size spaces for the older CDS postmarks versus the spray-on ink jet cancels. I also plan to use a similar basic format for my collection of envelope cut squares and postage meters, etc. The problem is that with only 4 or 5 examples to a page, the number of pages needed to properly display them all will get quite large very quickly, assuming you want to write some sort of a narrative for each item.

On the other hand, if all you're doing is displaying the cut squares without any narrative, the Vario page approach is probably the better alternative as you can fit many more to a page.
