I am checking some early stamps and I am wondering what is exactly a thin paper, what is normal paper and what is thick paper. I am using a micrometer that can measure up to 0.001 inches with room to evaluate the 4th digit. I have seen stamps from something like 0.002 inches up to about 0.0045.

Is there a general rule I can use to identify the paper thickness or is it really up to each stamp edition?

Thanks

Here's an old copy of the Small Queens Newsletter that gives an outline of paper thickness as well as some different paper types. Check page 5 for the complete info.

Thin - .0020" - .0026"
Medium - .0027" - .0034"
Thick - .0035" - .0040"+

I looked quickly for some sites explaining the Duckworth paper types for Large Queens, but just found a bunch of relative terms, nothing with fixed dimensions.
