Hi,
Well, the two latest Scott albums arrived today, after the USPS gave them a tour of the east coast and Texas. I've been after keeper Parts 1&2 of "Big Blue" for some months now, and this is my third volume of each.

The previous ones were missing pages, had odors that just lingered on no matter what, less than acceptable binders, and one had a combo of Scotts & Minkus pages.......

Well, these two are Keepers! A fellow auctioned off his Father in Law's two albums which he bought in the early '50s. He picked up 150 or so stamps for each, put the albums on the book shelf, and they stayed there until his passing.

The prices were exceptionally low - so low I was a bit suspicious. But, the kicker is they contained stamps - about 150 each. Now by itself that is no big deal, but these are quality stamps worth more than what I paid for the albums - including Australia kangaroo map, high dollar US Parcel Post issues, and some very nice early Canadas.

I don't mean to brag, I just had to share.

great to hear you got something special and your happy with it ,I like to hear from others who get something and are enjoying it ,no way do I look at it as bragging .But on other stamp chat boards there are a whole group of regular posters who jump up and down about bragging on the chat board if you dare to tell others about nice new acquisitions.

That's exciting. In case some of you don't know, these retail for over $700 new.

Can you let us know the publication dates of your albums?

Hi,
The publication dates are 1947 & 1950. To "fully disclose", I did exchange the binder for Part 1 with one I already had as it was a bit nicer. And, I made a front and back page out of art paper, and put the "O" ring reinforcement thingees on the first and last couple of pages.
One thing I just noticed...... The "unused" Part two album is 3 inches thick, while my two used ones are 3 1/2 inch thick. I assume that is because of the stamps of course.

I initially looked into getting new pages, etc., and as indicated, that was very expensive. Oh, I would love to post pics, but me and photobucket have had "issues".

Gotta say, I am happy over this - and consider it a birthday present (turn 69 next week).

Hi,
Well I realized that the the newest Part 2 album is a 3 inch binder. The other two are 3 1/2 inch binders..........

Are any of these the bindings that were described as "black"? (Seeing the binder on the right in your photograph reminded me of your earlier thread.)

No, all 6 are dark blue binders.

Question........ did Scotts issue part 2 BB in both size binders? The first two I got are 1/2 inch or so thicker than the latest one. I suspect it will have a hard time holding all the pages when they have stamps on them.
