Hi ClassicalStamps,

Apparently, I am too new of a member to send PMs. Please send the images to rsnicholson707@gmail.com

Spain_1850,

I was just given a 1850 - 6 C. It has a very genuine feel, however, I can't seem to plate it. If you have any free time, I would love your opinion. My best guess is Plate 1, Type 10, but it seems to be missing any other markers besides the mark in the C of Franco and the two marks on the O of Franco. Any ideas?

Thank you all for your help!

Robert

Robert, yes, looks like type 10 to me too. Besides the flaw in the C and the dot in the O of FRANCO, the R also looks slightly deformed to me, at least in the upper portion. I can also see one of the black spots under the O of CUARTOS. It is quite genuine. Alot of the smaller flaws, especially if they are black spots or marks, might not show up on copies that are slightly underinked. This might be the case here. But there is enough evidence to point it to type 10, and no other types. Nice copy.

Also you will find that the majority of copies that have the red Baeza postmark, as in yours, will be from plate I. The Baeza postmark adds a premium to the value of the first issues of Spain.

Hi ClassicalStamps--thank you for the pictures!

Hi Spain_1850--thanks for the confirmation. The 1850 6 Cuartos are definitely getting easier for me to plate, however, the 1851 6Cs are still a challenge for me. In fact, I just received 3 copies and I am torn whether they are real or Fourniers. I might have to post them and have you take a glance.

Thanks,
Robert

Hello again. I am doing the reconstruction of the composition "A" type II of 6 cuartos. I AM LOOKING to get stamps of "6 cuartos " used and canceled with "arana cancelation" or commonly known as spider cancelation on black color. thanks.

If you have some of these stamps don't worry about plating, I just need the stamp with the cancelation then I will do the plating.

of course, I will buy them
