I just ran across this on ebay. It is listed as a "stamper," but it doesn't look like a rubber stamp to me. It looks like metal and is on marble. Is this part of the plate?

Here's the listing link:

Here's the photo:

And the seller claims it is authentic. But an authentic what?

I have never seen a single stamp cut from the original metal plate.

I have seen items made to look like they were cut from the metal plate, but were really just fancy hand-stamps.

What is a tell-tale sign that this is a tall tale?

The edges of the "stamper" have perforations cut into them. The original plate would not display perforations.

The image is incorrect for a printing plate or a stamper. The image should be reversed.

I think it's one of these things (I have a set of 4). The metal stamp (note simulated perfs) measures 1 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches.

Someone may have epoxied one of these onto a marble slab to make a paperweight.
