A lot of countries' (eg. Guinea, Laos, New Caledonia) imperf stamps can be easily found on the market. Are they genuine, and is the mark-up worth it?

Do these countries actually have collectors of them, apart from the topical collector?

Well, I think they are genuine, but not eagerly collected, and while often marketed at fancy prices, difficult to sell. Follow the money.

I would say yes to the, are they genuine. As far as are they worth the mark up? Maybe. Sometimes they are listed in the Scotts guide in the notes after the listing as they are usually produced in fewer quantities. But as a collector I can tell you I buy them when I see them if they a reasonable price and if they fit my wants. When I buy new releases I will always buy the perforated and the imperforate units, the imperforate ones are always more. I will also buy the so called deluxe sheets which are imperforate printed on a heavy card, the design is usually recessed. I hope that helps.

Some of these imperfs have a pretty high mark-up, especially in the Michel catalogue. But it seems from recently ebay realizations, they do not command a high interest and only gain probably 10% of CV.
