HI,this is stanley gibbons old stamp catalogue released in 1952 and I discovered printing error stamp in it,i would like to share with all of you.

There is a cochin stamp number 9 on page 274 with a difference face which is number 18 stamp page in the flame.I cannot find the picture of the actual stamp on previous or next page.Im sure you can notice the difference showing on the picture below. Its a new discovery.I have never seen anything like this before as a stamp collector. This is damm interesting to prove that SG catalogue is not accurated in printing stamp picture, probably scott is a better catalogue.i believe this vintage stamp catalogue could be priceless in time to come.I hope you enjoy to see it as much as I do.

I wouldn't think it unusual to have errors in catalogues.

I do like to look through old catalogs. It is kind of fun and interesting at the same time. I did notice that there is a better version of yours on ebay right now for about a $1.00. Also it doesn't have the tape.

You are using a catalogue that is over 50 years old. You will find that the current issue of the SG catalogue has the correct information.

I disagree with your statement that Scott is a better catalogue. SG is far superior to Scott (for the British Empire & Commonwealth) than Scott. There are far more varieties, shades, colours, and printings listed in the SG catalogue.

Incidentally, your stamp is an offical stamp, Cochin SC No. O52; issued 1938-1944.

Value: 10p

This is not a "new" discovery. Each stamp in this series differs slightly in design. There is one picture of one of the stamps in the set for the purpose of saving space and acting as a reference.

You may want to consider further research into stamps you are studying be for you claim that they are "rare", "unique", or a "new discovery".
