March, these are fantastic.
Do you have access to these?
The reason I am asking is because my wife collects fish & sea life on stamps and stationery.

Looks like items 1 and 3 are for a polar expedition to Canada (Nunavut) and Greenland. Nice items! |

Svend Foyn (July 9, 1809 – November 30, 1894) was a Norwegian whaling and shipping magnate who pioneered revolutionary methods for hunting and processing whales. The covers are very neat However I find the practice of whale hunting deplorable. |

Yes, it's very sad indeed and I certainly meant no disrespect. I do love these covers though. I know that was a really a tough occupation and dangerous too! But I guess it helped to run some countries economical trade back in it's time and I certainly respect it's place in history, but no practical need for it now days. Same with the Ivory trade. |

I deplore it as well.
In my humble opinion, I think it was overkill with whales and dolphins. In fact, it is the same with all fish and sea life. This is why we see fewer and fewer catches out in the oceans.
This is coming from a person who would rather hunt animals with a camera, rather that a gun.

Yes, but, to be caught in numbers needed only. Not to be caught in numbers so vast to deplete the oceans.

Two Postal Stationery ( 189 and 190 / 2004) to commemorate 100 years since the settlement at Grytviken was established on 16 November 1904, by the Norwegian sea captain Carl Anton Larsen as a whaling station for his Compañía Argentina de Pesca (Argentine Fishing Company). I like these and what a great topic to collect. I really like the last stamp from New Zealand. I will have to look for that stamp. |
