The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation's website announced today (July 16/13) the finding of a third example of Canada's rarest stamp -- the 2c Large Queen on laid paper.

See their website for details: http://www.greenefoundation.ca/

The VGG Foundation did a fantastic job documenting their opinion. I learned alot just by reading it.

Could this start a "run' on large queens? Darn! Just when I was starting to buy them for my collection. Just acquired my first, a 3 cent.

Great find, and, out of a sales book too.

Now I am wondering if this will hit the pages of the Canadian Stamp News?

Time will tell

WOW! It is always exciting when a new discovery of an old item comes to light after so many years which means that there may be more out there to discover. I can only wonder how the person who had this stamp and sold it in a sales circuit for less feels before it was discovered and how the person who bought this stamp and sent it for examination feels after having it confirmed as being a much more valuable stamp than what they paid for.

Is that a copy of the stamp in your avatar? Imagine if a mint copy was found of Canada # 32. If I collected Canada # 3 (12d on laid paper) and needed it, I would probably buy a plate proof of it since it's much more affordable. At one time Canada # 6 was for 12d on wove paper, but it is not believed to have existed.
