Is this a faded vermillion/red color, or some other which I can't find out in both Scott and SG?

I am also not sure is it roughly perf, rouletted or even badly damaged clean cut perf...

I would go for the 2 pence red 1858 - 1902 issue as one of the various perforations used were the roulette type, which this seems to be (intermittent straight cuts). Watermarks on these were two variations of six pointed star in single thin line. The earlier 2 pence red 1855 - 1858 was issued imperforate, but some of that issue left over when the 1858 - 1902 issues went out were then rouletted. Watermark six pointed star also. Ref: Seven Seas Australian Colonies Catalogue

I don't have the Stanley Gibbons catalogue, but Scott gives this:
Sc 11 - 2 pence pale red rouletted (1859). Watermark 6. (six pointed star)
Sc 16 - 2 pence vermillion (1862) rouletted.
Sc 16c - 2 pence pale red.

The upper horizontal space is not perforated but seems to be a registration shift.

That's my 2 cents in the pot. I believe there are some Australian Colonies experts on here who will be able to be more specific).

Thank you very much, Terence. I will re-check again my Scott catalogue.

It should be the pale red (in fact, in live it is much more pale than it appeared on the scan).

Hi filipo,

The stamp could of course be faded, or washed out a bit, depending on the permanence, or not, of the pigments in the printing ink.

It is the 1860 rouletted 2d. Pale Red, s.g. 24a, which catalogues at 4 Pounds.
