I found this a rather interesting article, particularly the inquiry made by Mystic Stamp Company about stamps from North Korea: Quote: Donald Sundman, president of Mystic Stamp Co. in Camden, N.Y., asked for permission to buy postage stamps from North Korea. Some North Korean stamps show pictures of dogs. There's at least one that, weirdly, has a picture of Princess Diana. Another, less weirdly, has a picture of a unified Korean peninsula.
Sundman told me he wanted to get the stamps because, basically, they're hard to get — which makes them appealing for some collectors. This is one theme in the requests to do business with North Korea: People don't want North Korean stuff because it's cheap or well-made; people want the stuff because it's hard to get. They want special permission to buy stuff because the sanctions make it hard to buy stuff.http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2013...-north-korea

ebay has dozens of sellers of North Korea, and hundreds of stamp sets listed. Most of the sellers are outside the United States, but "Northstamp ebay Store" seems to sell them with impunity, for instance # 270679815239. |

While I was in the military I was stationed in South Korea. On a visit to the DMZ, I bought some North Korean stamps. Now I just have to find them... |

I thought the ban on postage stamps from NK (and Cuba and Iran) was lifted in the 90s. I remember getting NK new issues from Bombay when I was collecting stamps my first time around. This would have been like 97 to 2000. Or was the ban reimposed sometime after 2000. |

Hi, Awhile back I saw a couple of ebay auctions for Scott International pages (pre 1960) for "Cooba". My first thought was somebody can't spell, but of course it was their way of getting around the silly ban. Yes, I won a couple of them............... |

If that is the current market value and I can find a buyer who is willing to pay 400% of what I paid, then yes I would, clifhiker. It's all about supply and demand. |

I will buy North Korean materials, for the right price here and there. I will not buy at list price but I like them as much as anything else I find for my collection. Of course they are not exactly at the top of my want list, maybe more like a crime of opportunity. |

Can you mail a letter for NK to the USA? That would be one way to get the stamps. :) used but you have them. |
