I am horrible at dealing with figures especially fractions . I'm going to start selling stamps on ebay . If I sell a stamp for $20.00 US under BUY IT NOW - between the ebay and the Paypal fees , what will be left?
How will this be shown in Paypal ? Thanks and I'm sorry for being a bit off topic .

Paypal will charge you thirty cents for each transaction.
So if you sold 9 items to nine different people, that would be

9 x 30 cents.

They also charge you 2.9% for every transaction.
If you sold 9 items to nine different people, just add 2.9% to EACH one of the cost of the sale.

Here is the link, look at the middle BLUE DOT, it says right inside how much and then an explantion below:

ebay charges a lot more!
Sometimes it can be difficult figuring out what category, how much, insertion fees and on and on. But assuming you are selling stamps, I think they charge 10%?

Can anyone reading this, verify?
I also think they charge 10% of everything, meaning if you charged a shipping fee, they take 10% of that too.

There are some FREE online auction sites if anyone wants to give a hollar on which ones they've experienced and like.

Please chime in if I am incorrect.

ebay does indeed take a percentage of the shipping fee, but read the rules on ebay for complete details as it's a little different on what options of shipping you offer and domestic versus international. It's 10% on the final value fees plus shipping unless you have a store subscription.

You can avoid ebay's insertation fees if you only list 50 items or less per month or just wait till they give you free listing days which seems to happen about once a month these days. Again a store subscription gives more free listings, but they are not really free since you've paid for them.

Delcampe is another site that is free to list and has lower final value fees plus .12-.18 cent fee per item sold, but no fees on the shipping.

BidStart is another, but I don't have that much experience with that site.

ebay has the highest amount of web traffic and generally higher sales, but again higher fees. The others can work well given time and experience as well as quality of material. Delcampe has a higher percentage of European buyers, but there are folks from around the world there as well.

And of course, after you've been here for awahile, it's free it list here too on SCF. Just read the FAQs.

If you're an APS member, you can sell either through the Stamp Store or through the circuits.

Also I have started selling a bit on ebay. I am happy with my results. It was so daunting at the start. But I can see I have made some progress
