If you have those kinds of stamps then your looking at an auction house my opinion. Do not sell to a dealer, they have to make money when they sale them. E bay will not generate the high buyer that you would be looking for.
Why hasn't you investment company recommended a way to convert them into cash?
If they are not certified you may or may not have to consider doing that.
Not an easy question to answer but certainly sounds like more than a common collection.

I checked the web site you provided and also did a Google inquiry for Stanford Myers. I didn't turn up much. I did find a BBB reference to being a dealer in collectibles and stamps-collectors. The principal is Victor Serkalow. I did a further inquiry and found the company to be a dealer in PCGS graded coins and being a rare coins & currency dealer. An interesting discovery is that the company has an address different from the one that came up on your link, but still in Vegas. Not trying to cause difficulty for you. But the type of questions you are asking create an impression that you may not know a lot about stamp collecting, on your own.
I'm not getting an impression either that the company knows much about philately. I agree with other posters that it would be useful to see some pictures. Also, agree with mkfarm that if your collection has significant value, an auction house is the best way to go. Mkfarm makes a further good point in wondering why the investment company is not providing assistance to you in selling? |

There are some serious red-flags here .Any company that grades and sells those stamps itself is questionable .Any firm that's not a member of the ASDA or APS and deals in quality stamps is questionable .Any firm selling investments and not helping the customer when it comes to selling is questionable .Any firm that sells INVESTMENT SERVICES and is not licensed is illegal, both in Federal and State regulations. Sounds fishy to me . |

Suggest you sell it to the "investment company", they are the only people who have seen the stamps. |

We're going to need some type of images to actually gauge what you actually have there. Catalog value and real market value can differ greatly and wildly. |

Hi once again, Some very good posts here, and I would advise the OP to pay close attention to them. A lot of the info is not "good news", but there is an awful lot of merit to it. As many indicated, pics of your better holdings would allow for more precise advice on getting the most out of your collection. Sadly, the "collectible" market is generally not a money making situation these days. So that is even more reason to investigate the options thoroughly before taking any action. One thing you could do in the meantime is to search out auction sites (including ebay) to see what stamps similar to yours have sold for (not the listed price, the selling price). One thing we all agree on........... we wish you the best of luck! |

1) They are not members of the Better Business Bureau 2) They are defined as SIC Code: 5961 "Catalog and Mail-Order Houses" If an Investement company, they would be a member of the BBB and the SIC Code would not be as a Catalog & Mail Orer House.
Are any alarms sounding yet?

I thank everyone that has given advice as to help selling these stamps. Yes I am VERY new and green when it comes to selling my collection.
I was given the Investment group from a relative that has sold through them. I greatly appreciate everyone helping in looking into the business, I figured there were no problems.
The gentleman that I have "working" for me says that he doesn't sell them, he just contacts a list of buyers that he has and tells them what I have, It is up to the other person to "make an offer" he then contacts anyone else that wants the certain set of stamps and asks for counter offers. Once an actual "bid" is made, I am called and told what it is and asked if I accept.
Does this help explain at all?
Should I get my collection back from these guys or what? |

In my opinion YES! Get your collection back as soon as possible! That way you have the ball in your court and can choose to either sell them yourself or contact a reputable auction house. I'm sure quite a few members here can recommend at least a few for you to investigate. Those other folks that have your holdings are certainly do not have your best interest in mind but only looking to make their cut. They most certainly wouldn't do it for free now would they? |

greenlant408....before anyone is contacted.....you should post a few photos of any of your quality items that you have here. I have asked you earlier who did you purchase these stamps from? That will give me and others a feel for what you have. Based on past comments....replacement value is no where actual value.
