to kevin, and anyone else who is asking. The stamps were bought by my parents when I was younger. I was taught how to carefully mount them in the split black covers and put then into books. I did it for cub scouts. So I really don't know more than that as to where they bought them from. I do know they spent about 100 a month, (like that helps) I just looked in a book and said " I like that one" |

Sorry for the joke but all this stress over these is getting to me.
I know nothing about this hobby, don't have the money to get into it. Just want get a good sale price for the stamps that I have already. |

You will find selling to most large dealers you will get far less of an offer. It is like collecting anything such as GI Joes or the like. You have to take the time to learn and then find trusted sources. It takes a little work to make sure you get your best possible return. By now I would have thought you might have at least searched for some sales on ebay to have an idea of what you have. If you get time either list or post photos of what you have. |

ok, MK and everyone else LOL
I know of the following sets : the fore mentioned Penny Black, Blue and Red The Columbian's 1907 Jamestown's 1924 Huguenot's 1925 Lexington's 1934 National Parks'
That's what I can remember off hand. Stanford Myers has contacted me this morning already (after a angry message was left by me)an is emailing me scans of my collection. So when they get to me I will put them on here. |

I don't know enough about the Pennys to give you an opinion, I have one Penny Red and it is common and not worth much at all.
The full set of Colombian Exposition Issues is a desirable collection.Pricing would fully depend on the question of Mint / Used along with condition, centering etc.
The Jamestown Exposition Issue the key stamp is the 5 cent Pocahontas in MNH. This is a pretty easy group to get.
The Huguenot - Walloon Tercentenary Issue is pretty common again with the 5 cent Jan Riobault Monument stamp having the most value. This is a pretty easy group to get.
The Lexington - Concord Issue is another easy group to get in MNH.
The National Parks Year Issue is common and plentiful in all conditions, along with he Farleys.
Everything depends on condition. The only real group that you have that commands a lot more work is the Colombians and that is if you have more than just the first two stamps. I hope this helps some what.

The proofs are outside my area of study. If I remember correctly the proofs do not command as much money as he regular series stamps. However they are still valued high.
Sorry I can not give you more of an opinion on the proofs. |

Who graded these stamps? If it was Stanford Meyers, the grading is worthless as no one else will accet their grades as they are not recognized in the business.
It is impossible for us to offer advice on where you should sell if we have no idea what stamps you are trying to sell. |

Ooops, posted my last post without seeing the 3rd page of this thread wher you did list some of the stamps. The Columbian proofs are worth less than the regular Columbians, but still far from worthless. The set catalogs around $2000, but that is a full retail price, you will be offered less (how much depends on condition). |

greenlant408....Based on what you stated nothing is valuable (except the Columbian proofs, there are a few diff types). Do a search @ ebay....you will see the Nat Parks, Jamestown, HW, LexConcord etc....nothing but a few bucks. Not trying to devalue this group...but these are all common issues....regardless of what was spent years ago. SORRY to be the bearer of the bad news. |

Greenlant408.......... I'm a retired business analyst and have been "around the block" quite a bit. I strongly urge you to: - get the stamps back in your possession immediately. - go thru them and scan the "big dollar" ones and post them on this forum. You will get honest and unbiased evaluations here. - compare the better ones with ebay (or other online auction sites) sales. - Once the above is done, you will be able to put together a sales plan to get you a decent return (based on real market conditions). I have to add.......... keep them in your possession until you exchange them for CASH. |

Is that Frank P Hall as in former Minority Leader Frank Hall? If so then he had more than enough resources to put together a nice collection. But I do not remember him having a son. |
