Does anyone know if album page holes are more likely to tear in a 2-post style binder vs. a 3-ring style that lies flat? I am thinking of converting my Scott International pages to 3-ring binders because I thought the pages would be more secure. But maybe they won't be. Any experience on this?

I don't think it makes a difference.

I will say that fixing a tear in a 3 ring binder is way easier than a 2 post binder. Flip to the page you want, open the rings and remove the page for repair.

That's a great point. I found some Avery reinforcing holes that are clear and unobtrusive.

The best approach is to apply hole reinforcements before tears occur. Yes, time consuming, but when pages started to experience tear out I buckled down and applied reinforcements to ALL pages. The tear out is a thing of the past.

jobi01, did you use clear or the white cloth type? Also, I read somewhere that C Line reinforcing strips are good to use.

I use the C Line strips on the pages at the immediate front and end of the binder; i.e., the ones that receive the most stress. I put them in a year ago and so far no problems. These were on pages that the clear and cloth reinforcements failed to prevent tearing. Because of thickness and cost, I wouldn't think though that the C Line strips would be practical for every page in an album.

If anyone has converted their two post pages to three ring and is happy with them, I would love to see pictures.

What I ordered (from Amazon) was C-Line Self-Adhesive Reinforcing Strips, 10.75 x 1 Inches, Clear, 200 per Box (64112). The product description says "The C-Line Self-Adhesive Reinforcing Strips prevent materials from tearing out of your binder by adhering to and reinforcing the entire edge. They are easy to apply. Simply peel off the paper backing and apply to reinforce, strengthen or repair torn page edges. They are easy to punch and trim to size. Each strip is 10 3/4 x 1 Inches long, and each box contains 200 strips."

But Timm you are correct. I didn't remember that C-Line made several similar products so there may be something better.

Since I have Scott Specialty Albums I use the square hole page reinforcement Mylar from Scott which are supposedly new and improved for square and round hole page reinforcements of 48 strips per package. They claim to invisibly reinforce the hole punch on all Scott national and specialty album pages. They cost $4.49 from Scott.
